Napoli would be running a massive risk in selling Edinson Cavani this summer, says former Azzurri striker Antonio Careca.

“Cavani should not be sold,” the former Brazilian international told the Corriere dello Sport. “The squad would lose 70 per cent without him.

“For three years Cavani has shown that he can score goals in every manner, he’s an ‘animal’ in front of goal.

“He scores ‘too’ many goals, he’s always decisive. Napoli deserve a centre-forward like him.”

Napoli, however, will be unable to keep the Uruguayan if a club that interests him offer the €63m release fee clause in his contract.

The 26-year-old Cavani, currently on Confederations Cup duty, is wanted by outfits such as Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City.
