Brighton have rejected Napoli’s improved offer for Billy Gilmour and another raise will be needed to close out a deal for the Scottish midfielder.

The Partenopei have identified the 23-year-old Scot as their first-choice option to bolster Antonio Conte’s squad this summer and submitted an opening offer worth circa €9.5m at the end of last month, which was quickly rejected.

Napoli drew up a new offer worth around €10-12m plus add-ons, serious about a deal for Gilmour, and waited for Brighton’s response. Gilmour has already opened up to the move and is now waiting for an agreement to be reached between the two clubs.

Napoli need another Gilmour raise

Gianluca Di Marzio highlights how Napoli need to submit another offer for Gilmour, who has been given a price tag of €12m plus €3m in add-ons by Brighton.

Updates are expected in the coming days as sporting director Giovanni Manna continues working on a deal with the Seagulls, who are open to a sale before the end of the month.
