Napoli are closer to agreeing a new contract with Victor Osimhen, claim Sky Sport Italia, but there is still a big debate over the extent of his release clause.

The Nigeria international was Capocannoniere for the Scudetto winners and linked with every big club in the world, including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Chelsea.

However, he is eager to sign a new deal at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona with an improved salary and negotiations have been progressing well with his agent.

According to the report this evening from Sky Sport Italia, they are now closer to an agreement and hope to get it done in the next meeting.

There is still one big sticking point and that is the value given to a release clause, which he currently does not have as part of his contract.

It had been suggested at €200m, which is roughly how much Napoli value Osimhen, as far as President Aurelio De Laurentiis insists.

However, it is reported that the final figure in the deal could be closer to just €140-150m, which may well be inviting offers from next summer.
