The Victor Osimhen saga is back in the news, with reports Napoli and LOSC offices were raided and President Aurelio De Laurentiis investigated for possible fraud in the transfer.

According to Il Mattino, La Repubblica, Sky Sport Italia and others, police raided Napoli and Lille offices in Naples, Rome and France today as part of the investigation.

The deal has long been a cause of controversy, as the official €70m transfer plus €10m in bonuses fee was only circa €50m in cash, the other €20m made up of goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis and three youth team players Luigi Liguori, Claudio Manzi and Ciro Palmieri.

The value of the youth team players immediately raised eyebrows, because they were given vastly inflated prices on the transfer market.

This caused even more controversy when the three players never actually wore the Lille jersey, as they were immediately loaned out to Serie C sides and their contracts were simply terminated a year later free of charge.

The players went to the media complaining the deal had ruined their careers and they were used as pawns in a larger transaction used to bolster the finances of both Napoli and Lille.

10 thought on “Napoli and LOSC investigated over Osimhen transfer ‘fraud’”
  1. I’m confused. 2 teams negotiating for a player determine the price/value of that player or players. If that’s the deal Napoli made with LOSC… who cares? It’s not unusual for a team to “overpay” for players. They set the price, not some bogus organization. Yea, it seems like a terrible deal and LOSC were robbed but that’s on them hahaha

  2. The problem with this is that Serie A has some requirements regarding cash flow.
An artificially inflated deal cheats this system.

  3. Enough already with this BS, how many times are they going to investigate this while all the big clubs get away with murder.

  4. Sounds like buying a new car. You go to the dealership and they quote you the price. You have most of the money up front and would like to trade in your old one to pay the rest of the sum. If both parties agree you close the deal. Nothing illegal about it and how is that “cheating”?

  5. It always baffles me how obsessed Italian media and officials are with controversy.

The Italian gov does absolutely nothing to help Italian clubs… Zero… 1 club owns its own stadium and they still are nowhere close to competing with mid table EPL clubs in the transfer market…

It’s obvious that some creative accounting will take place, I don’t see how deciding the value of a player is illegal… And prosecutors want to continue holding Italian football back and then say nothing about psg and man city

  6. All of the clubs at threat from FFP are guilty of this. This is widespread throughout European football

  7. ADL said on the record at the time of the transfer that he paid much less than the figures that were disclosed in the media. The only question is did they do anything illegal or just work the system.

  8. How many times did you people want to investigate this issues please leave this matter and move on Serie a is the most corrupt League
