There are reports Napoli have finally agreed to terminate their contract with director of sport Cristiano Giuntoli, so he will be free to join Juventus.

The matter was becoming increasingly tense with a deadline of today to either liberate the transfer guru or risk Juve looking towards other targets.

According to Sky Sport Italia, today’s meeting between Giuntoli and President Aurelio De Laurentiis got the all-clear everyone was looking for.

It will be a termination by mutual consent a year early, as the contract had been due to run until June 30, 2024.

In turn, Giuntoli agreed to give up the €4-5m he was owed in wages and bonuses.

After that, Guintoli will be free to sign for Juventus and begin organising their transfer strategy, as the market officially opens in Italy tomorrow.

The 51-year-old joined Napoli in the summer of 2015, having previously worked in the role for Carpi and Spezia.

He was coming off the high of winning the first Scudetto in 33 years for the Partenopei, achieved in part thanks to the discovery of talents like Victor Osimhen, Kim Min-jae and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia.
