Giovanni Simeone is on the verge of joining Napoli after an agreement was reportedly found with Hellas Verona.

Gianluca Di Marzio details how the Partenopei have agreed to sign the 27-year-old Argentinian forward on a loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy clause attached.

Napoli will pay Verona €3.5m for the loan plus another €12m to sign Simeone permanently, a clause which becomes mandatory should the club qualify for the Champions League or he reaches a benchmark number of goals and appearances. Further add-ons will also be added on.

The formula suits both parties perfectly; the immediate €3.5m gives Verona some compensation in exchange for the player, and Napoli can avoid signing Simeone should things not go to plan in the Campania capital.

It’s unlikely that Simone will be available for Napoli’s season opener, amusingly against Verona, but his move will be completed soon. The two clubs are currently exchanging documents and his medicals will be scheduled for the earliest moment possible.
