Sky Sport Italia claim Everton have agreed a deal with Napoli to sign Jesper Lindstrom on a paid loan with option to buy and must now work out personal terms with the player.

The Denmark international was signed with high hopes last summer from Eintracht Frankfurt at a massive fee of €30m plus up to another €5m in add-ons.

However, he was a total flop, not helped by the constant changing of coaches, tactics and positions in a post-Scudetto campaign that saw the team fail to even qualify for Europe.

He made 29 competitive appearances for the club, failing to contribute a single goal or assist.

Lindstrom struggled at Napoli

The 24-year-old needs to be released before Napoli can sign a replacement, so they are accepting the Everton offer of a paid loan with option to buy at the end of the season.

Now the Toffees must work out personal terms with the player.

It is reported the total package would be worth around €25m, so they are still making a loss.

Although he was often used as a winger, and looked very much out of sorts, Lindstrom is for the most part a trequartista who plays in support of a striker.

He had scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists in 80 matches for Eintracht Frankfurt.
