“We dominated the game and played good football, creating chances, but we didn’t take them and Inter took theirs,” the midfielder told Mediaset Premium.
“That’s football. If you don’t score, you can’t win. Aside from the goal, Inter didn’t do very much. We were less reactive in front of goal and it proved fatal.
“I don’t think Inter limited us that much at all. Mohamed Salah could’ve scored two goals, Edin Dzeko one. If we’d found the net, people would be talking about the performance very differently.
“We did create numerous scoring opportunities. The difference is that we didn’t take them.”
It was the meeting between the best defence in Serie A and the most prolific attack, but the Giallorossi were locked out after netting 25 goals in 10 rounds.
If Fiorentina and Napoli win their games today, Roma will drop from leaders to fourth place.
“We were coming off five consecutive victories and lost only two Serie A games this season, both undeservedly. We must forget this game and shrug off the regrets, trying to avoid mistakes going forward.”
