Fiorentina had made an approach, but the latest reports from multiple sources including Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia suggest Nainggolan has his heart set on Cagliari.
It’s a return to Sardinia for the player, who wore the Rossoblu jersey from January 2010 to January 2014.
There is also a personal reason for this comeback, as Nainggolan’s wife is from Cagliari and wants to be closer to her family after a cancer diagnosis.
