Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan describes the Champions League as “the dream of every young lad who plays football”.

The Giallorossi have reached the semi-finals of the competition, and will face Liverpool next week for the right to contest the final in Kiev.

“The Champions League is the dream of every young lad who plays football,” Nainggolan told UEFA’s official website.

“It’s a dream I’ve worked hard for and one I’ve realised, now I’m just missing the World Cup, even if it’s difficult.

“I’ll try, but the Champions League is a different atmosphere, it’s a championship in itself.

“You know you can always go through because there are one-off games, and in the end it’s a short path, but if you make one mistake you can pay for it.

“You can also take away a lot of satisfaction though, and that’s what we’re trying to do.

“Maybe something in we players changes, because you feel a different atmosphere, you’re not playing against Italian teams and maybe that changes something.

“That gives you extra motivation.”
