Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann aimed a sideswipe at Juventus staff after Matthijs de Ligt said ‘it was his hardest training session in four years, but it wasn’t that hard.’

The defender turns 23 next month and had joined the Bianconeri in 2019 from Ajax, before making the €67m plus €10m add-ons transfer to Munich this summer.

Some of De Ligt’s comments have irritated the Juve players and fans since his move, and now coach Nagelsemann is getting in on the act too.

“I spoke to him after training and he said the session was his hardest in four years. It was hard, but it wasn’t that hard. Just normal for Dr. Broich,” Nagelsmann told reporters.

“He didn’t play so many minutes last season and I’ve heard in Italy it’s then not easy to stay fit.”

De Ligt made 42 competitive appearances in the Juventus jersey last season, contributing three goals and one assist.

It’s hardly the first time that the Juventus training staff have come under fire, as the club dealt with numerous injuries over the last few years, despite the changing tacticians.

The Netherlands international scored a goal on his Bauyern Munich debut, the 6-2 friendly win over DC United, but he also risked an own goal, picked up a yellow card and went off with a slight injury.

  1. As much as I don’t like Juve’s both medical and training staff today, Nagelsmann should stick to his own team and mind his own business. It’s not respectful to be commenting on other teams the way he’s been doing lately, only because he’s ahead of Bayern München and he thinks he’s a mastermind of a manager always playing chess while others are playing checkers.

  2. De Ligt is one of the most overrated players in Europe. He was very mediocre for Juventus and his ridiculous hand ball eliminated the Dutch from the Euros. He fits in nicely with the most overrated coach in Europe.

  3. It’s amazing how many non Juve fans comment always in the Juve section. Not much going on for your own clubs, eh?

  4. Its just fluff for the media. Germans are known for their superiority complex. Leta face it, not a humble culture. Pirlos sessions were notoriously grueling because of the tempo that squad was required to play at.

  5. No surprise that he is not up to schedule with the demands of a glorious 6 time CL winning club. PhD Max plays 1Mbps calcio and joint movement is minimal. The Dutch Phil Jones spent more time honing the art of hand to ball. Flimsey, McKennie, Chiesa, Dybala and the list goes on. With Conte Juve were fresh, had grinta and identity.

  6. Wow this guy was so humble when he was managing Hoffenheim and Leipzig. Just shows what going to the biggest club does to your ego. He’s publicly spoken about Harry Kane and other Bayern targets. Yet cried when Barcelona were speaking to the media about Lewandowski.

  7. Nagelwho ?!
Wait for pogba to throw some shots deep your goal then you’ll see whose training is better
    NagelClown

  8. Who is this fraud? His training methods were so good last season he got knocked out to villarreal as well

  9. Most teams in their respective league usually have to overpay for their transfer targets; Bayern has a luxury to be able to hand pick transfer targets from their league and pay 50% off, time and time again… they can even play with reserves in their league games because he quality of play is such a joke

We’ll see at the end of the season how shiny this Bayern team really is

Maybe after de ligt does some steroids we’ll see his hand ball problem disappear

  10. It’s a sign of a poor coach when you comment on the state of others. In a one team league, Bayern have only the CL to look forward to and considering their resources, even 6 wins is too few. Head down and pedal as they say. Re Conte, yes great manager but not suited to CL football which is why Allegri always outperformed him. Silly comment on here from usual americani.

  11. What did Nagelmans expected from a player that was second choice to 37-year old Chiellini and 34-year old Bonucci? If at the age of almost 23 de Ligt is striggling, then why did they sign him? Didn’t they look at who they were buying? Blame yourself, and not others. Maybe, that is why Lewandowski decided to leave.

  12. Is this guy sucking up to his new club or what??? Lol. Stop acting like a 4 year old. Chiellini would eat his breakfast.

  13. How come Juve bought him when he was only 19 Or just to teach him how to delay the game when they are winning and how to fake injuries during the game so they can get free kicks and yellow cards that are not It
Is their specialty No time to do real training

  14. This why I never liked Bayern or German football. Full of themselves and talk too much.

Beckenbauer and Rummenigge have always been yapping to the media about Italian clubs and players. The “Italy curse”, as Beckenbauer said himself, must have done damage on them.

  15. De Ligt was never the first option with three diferent coaches at Juve. He is such an over rated player, just like all those other Ajax’s players like de Jong and van de Beek.

    Nagel who???
