Former Parma, Juventus and Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu has announced his retirement from football in order to concentrate on his coaching career.

Mutu, who also turned out for Cesena and Inter in Italy, ends his playing career with 199 goals in 522 appearances, plus a further 35 goals in 77 caps for Romania, and he is now seeking work as an assistant to a top-flight Coach in his homeland.

“Playing is over for me,” he told Europa FM.

“Playing is over for me,” he told Europa FM.

“Today I started to attend coaching school, where we’re coaching children between six and eight years.

“In mid-November, I’ll finish studying for my B Licence, though doing my A requires me to be an assistant Coach in the Romanian top flight.

“When I walked into the dressing room, the first things I asked were sincerity, discipline and punctuality.”
