Former Fiorentina star Adrian Mutu has revealed that his ‘secret wish’ is to coach the Viola one day.

Mutu enjoyed a career revival at Fiorentina after his disastrous spell in England with Chelsea, which saw him test positive for cocaine.

“The team I’m closest to are certainly Fiorentina, thanks to the bond that exists between the city and I to this day,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“To coach them, let’s say, is my secret wish, but I’m still studying. I know what Serie A is about and I want to be 100 percent ready just in case.”

The 41-year-old is currently CT of Romania’s Under-21 side and helped a team in his homeland survive relegation last season.

“The first thing to do is to always adapt to your workplace, if you’re at a top club, one that’s struggling to stay afloat and so on.

“Some coaches can afford not to, but they are Mourinho, Guardiola, Mancini and so on.

“I have to adapt to what’s in front of me, and for that reason I’m very attentive to my defence.”
