Mutti waiting for Palermo call

Bortolo Mutti claims that he still hasn’t been contacted by President Maurizio Zamparini about the vacant Palermo post.

Bortolo Mutti claims that he still hasn’t been contacted by President Maurizio Zamparini about the vacant Palermo post.

Mutti is seen as the early favourite to replace Devis Mangia after he was dismissed on Monday morning by the Rosanero.

“I’ve had no call from President Zamparini,” the available tactician told Calciomercato.it this afternoon. “I’m just waiting to see what will happen.”

Mutti, 57, hasn’t worked since his spell at Bari in 2010-11, but he has a Palermo past after his stint there in the 2001-02 campaign.

“I was happy at Palermo even if the term was a difficult one,” added the Coach. “I also like working in the south of Italy.

“I fitted in excellently at places like Messina, Reggio Calabria, Cosenza and others cities which I have been in.

“It would also be great to work in a ‘hot atmosphere club’ like Palermo. However, until I receive a call…”

According to reports, Zamparini and Mutti will hold talks about the job at some point this evening.

Zamparini, who sacked Stefano Pioli in pre-season just months after his arrival, wants to hand Mutti a contract until June 2012.
