Bortolo Mutti is confident he can turn Palermo around in 2012. “It has been a positive start and I can’t wait to start training intensively.”

The Coach had precious little time to prepare for his debut on the bench, replacing Devis Mangia just two days before the 2-2 draw with Novara.

“It has been a positive start, both in terms of what we achieved in Novara and our training sessions,” explained Palermo’s third tactician of the season after Mangia and Stefano Pioli.

“The squad is very strong and the lads work hard. I can’t wait to start training intensively for around 10-15 days so I can have a better understanding of the side at my disposal. We certainly need to improve.

“I spoke briefly to President Maurizio Zamparini in Novara, when I arrived. He asked me to lead the team, involving everyone, but with authority and confidence. I am not to freeze anyone out and make sure everyone has an opportunity, although obviously at the end of the day those who deserve it will play.”
