Juventus have reportedly made contact with the agent of Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi, as he’s their alternative to Bayern Munich’s Medhi Benatia.

The Bianconeri are in the market for a new central defender this summer, with Martin Caceres heading for the exit door when his contract expires.

Former Roma centre-back Benatia is believed to be Juve’s preferred choice and yesterday said it’s ‘not a problem’ if Bayern want him to leave.

However, Tuttosport reports today that the Old Lady have already made contact with Mustafi’s representatives about a move to Turin.

The 24-year-old already has Serie A experience from his time at Sampdoria from 2012-2014 and was a world champion with Germany in 2014.

Mustafi has scored twice in 26 La Liga appearances this season and has a contract with Valencia running until 2019.
