Inter announced a €140m loss for 2021-22 and there are mixed reports on Italian media on whether they need to sell one of their stars in January.

The Nerazzurri released their financial statement for 2021-22 yesterday, announcing a loss of €140m. There was a substantial improvement compared to the previous campaign when the Serie A giants had lost €245m.

According to Gazzetta, last season’s financial results mean Inter won’t be forced to sell one of their stars in the January transfer window. Moreover, they now have the strength to negotiate a new contract with Milan Skriniar, but it remains to be seen if their offer will be satisfying.

The Slovakia international has been linked with a move to PSG, but the Nerazzurri won’t be obliged to sell due to their financial position.

Nevertheless, Beppe Marotta could decide to re-open talks with PSG if Skriniar refuses to extend his contract expiring in 2023. Inter don’t want to see him leave on a free transfer in June, so they’ll sit down with his agent, but if no agreement is reached, then they’d be forced to sell in January.

On the other hand, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport, despite Inter’s improvements compared to last season, Marotta must sell another star by the end of the current financial year, so June 30. This doesn’t mean that one of Inter’s top players will leave in January, but directors are aware that they need to earn €60-80m from transfers each year.

  1. Though it’s all newspaper gossip. That’s Italy all over. Cup Winner’s last year. Champion’s a year before that. Regular UCL participant’s!
An average crowd of over 70,000 last season + they’re talking about having to sell another 🌟 player.
I have some sympathy for them in this case though. No-one was complaining when they were pumping million’s into the squad + it’s not their fault the Chinese Government changed its law’s.
