The Nerazzurri are now eight points adrift of the final Champions League spot, but the Colombian defender believes they can close the gap in the last seven games.
“Third-place isn’t impossible,” Murillo insisted in an interview with Inter Channel.
“It’s out of our hands a bit, but we can’t get down, we have to stay focused because working hard we can reach every goal. Now we’re working to finish the season in the best way.
“Certainly we have to get there after a strange game like Torino. It’s hard to make sense of it, but even so we have to keep our heads up and keep working until things return to normal.
“There was a game which slipped through our fingers, you resolve these things by working.”
Murillo was also asked for his opinion on the best striker in Serie A.
“[Gonzalo] Higuain, no doubt. This year he’s really been unstoppable. He’s surprised me a lot, because in spite of his physical attributes he does things you wouldn’t expect him to be able to do.”
