Jeison Murillo said it is Inter’s “duty” to talk about the Scudetto and he doesn’t care if they play badly.

The defender has been very impressive since arriving over the summer and formed a fine partnership with Joao Miranda.

“I think I’m mature for 23 years of age. I am the youngest of six children and growing up in a close-knit humble family makes you understand many things early,” the Colombian told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“When on the pitch, my mind changes, I become a warrior. Serie A is Paradise for me, as it’s the League everyone wants to play in sooner or later. I dreamed of being here and following in the footsteps of my idol, Ivan Ramiro Cordoba.

“I got Cordoba’s shirt at the Inter Campus when I was a kid and wore that thing from morning till night, sweating straight through it.

“Miranda and I play as if we’d known each other forever. He’s very shy off the field, but on it he plays without fear, like a real leader.

Inter are still top of the Serie A table despite a 2-1 home defeat to Lazio and start 2016 against Empoli on Wednesday.

“People say we play badly? Then I think of first place. It’s important to understand that we can always improve, but it’s essential to grab the result. In the end, that’s what counts,” continued Murillo.

“Roberto Mancini helps us keep calm and guides the team. His experience is a guarantee. Talking about the Scudetto is not just a dream for Inter, it must be our duty.”

Murillo has even attracted interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool.

“It’s flattering, but I am a professional and respect my jersey to the last drop of sweat.”
