The Nerazzurri were top of Serie A at Christmas, but fell away badly in 2016 and ended-up in fourth position.
“We started in the best way from the point of view of the squad,” Murillo recalled while on international duty with Colombia.
“We had an objective, which was the Champions League, but we were unable to achieve it. Of course there are some regrets, but we have to build from here and improve every day next season.”
Murillo has been linked with Leicester City, Sevilla and Valencia, but refused to discuss his Inter future.
“Right now it’s normal that there are a lot of transfer rumours, but I’m focused on Colombia and I don’t want to think about the transfer market.
“Of course, I hear them [the rumours] myself and I read something different every day. I repeat though, at this moment I’m just focused on the Colombian national team.”
