The municipality of Genoa has sent a letter hoping to get the go ahead to bring fans back for Sampdoria-Genoa on July 22.

In agreement with the two clubs, the city sent a letter to Paolo Dal Pino, the Lega Serie A President.

“In a letter sent to the President of the Lega Serie A, we asked about the occasion of the derby between Sampdoria and Genoa, if it was possible, always maintaining contingent numbers and safety protocols, to grant access to some representatives of the two sets of fans,” Councilor of the Municipality of Genoa wrote in a note, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

“I understand that we are still in a period of adjustment, but small signs of normality would greatly benefit the sporting reality.

“We hope that there will be this possibility, it would be really important for the biggest sporting event in Genoa.

“The match has been scheduled for 20:45 (UK time) and it would be important to bring the kick-off forward by at least one hour to make sure all citizens can really enjoy this party.”
