Adrien Rabiot has officially agreed to join Roberto De Zerbi’s Olympique Marseille, having previously spoken to Milan, Manchester United and Newcastle United.

The midfielder has been a free agent since his contract with Juventus was allowed to run down on June 30 and has been in talks with numerous clubs this summer.

However, they were always put off by his salary demands, which were rumoured to be €10m per season net, plus a €15m signing-on bonus and commission for his mother and agent Veronique.

Rabiot set for De Zerbi union

According to multiple sources tonight including Fabrizio Romano, RMC Sport and L’Equipe, Rabiot is now in advanced negotiations for a return to Ligue 1 with Olympique Marseille, to the point where they are confident an agreement can be reached within the next 48 hours.

It was indeed even faster than that, because this evening Olympique Marseille released a statement confirming they had agreed personal terms and would sign Rabiot pending a medical.

This would mean working with Italian coach De Zerbi, who is building a completely revamped squad on the French riviera.

It is believed to be a two-year contract for the 29-year-old, who has 157 Serie A appearances under his belt and 163 in Ligue 1.

There are reports that he would command a €10m signing-on bonus.
