Italian tactician Francesco Farioli is set to take over at Dutch giants Ajax from next season, confirm multiple reports, leaving OGC Nice.
According to Voetbal International, Fabrizio Romano and more, a deal has been reached with Farioli and the final details need to be clarified before he can quit Nice a year early, as his contract runs to June 2025.
His contract with Ajax will have an end date of June 2027.
Farioli rise to fame
The 35-year-old had been only a goalkeeping coach for much of his career, working with Roberto De Zerbi at Benevento and Sassuolo, before becoming assistant manager to Cagdas Atan at Alanyaspor.
He emerged as a solo coach at Fatih Karagumruk in 2021, then to Alanyaspor from December 2021 to February 2023.
Farioli spent this season in Ligue 1 with OGC Nice, taking them to a fifth place finish ahead of Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique Marseille.
He is to become only the second Italian coach in the history of the Eredivisie after Massimo Morales for just four games in charge of De Graafschap in 1999.
