Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has hailed the ‘legend’ that is Francesco Totti ahead of tomorrow's meeting with Roma.

However, the Germany international also maintains that he still wants to beat the Giallorosso captain in matchday three of the Champions League group stage.

“Totti is a legend, not only in Rome but throughout the world,” Muller mused to reporters at today’s pre-match Press conference.

“I am on the right track, but to become like him, I should have to change my name!

“He is known everywhere, but despite his fame, we want to beat him.”

Muller then touched on Bayern’s happiness about facing another footballing side, the prospect of meeting the Pope this week and the significance of Mehdi Benatia’s past association with Roma.

“Lately we have scored few goals [in the Champions League and we face a different team in respect to previous meetings with Roma.

“We are happy to face a team that don’t just defend but play openly. This is football,” he added.

“With all the video material of today, it’s difficult for any secrets to be hidden. If there were [any], then Mehdi would help to provide us with some important clues.

“It will be exciting to meet the Pope on Wednesday, but we are only focused [on the match].”
