The Germany international continues to be linked with a move away from Los Merengues this summer, with reports from Spain today suggesting that he continues to refuse to extend his contract beyond its June 2015 expiry and that in turn Madrid are waiting for offers from interested parties to arrive.

One of those is said to be La Viola, who in spite of recognising the significant financial outlay, do hold ambition to try to pick up the 27-year-old.
Whilst also reportedly coveted by Arsenal and Chelsea, La Nazione indicate today that Fiorentina have one advantage in their favour – the backing of the player’s long-term girlfriend, Lena Gercke.
The 26-year-old model apparently favours the move to Florence for her career and has made this clear to the midfielder, who she has been in a relationship with for over three years.
