The statement was released this afternoon by Fininvest, the holding company for President Berlusconi’s various interests.

This morning Berlusconi met with Thai investor Taechaubol and told reporters “there’s still the possibility I will keep 51 per cent” of the club.

That now seems to be the idea rather than an original plan to sell up to 60 per cent.

“The meeting with Bee Taechaubol was positive,” read the statement.

“The collaboration is for a financial conglomerate to buy a minority share of the club.

“Control of the club remains firmly in the hands of President Silvio Berlusconi.”

Meanwhile, Sky Sport Italia claim CEO Adriano Galliani met with Doyen Sports owner Nelio Lucas for around 30 minutes today.

‘Mr Bee’ was also in the same restaurant as Paolo Maldini for lunch, though it’s not clear if they spoke.
