West Ham coach David Moyes explains Nikola Vlasic joined Torino because he could not guarantee him playing time, but denies the Hammers are interested in Juventus target Memphis Depay.

West Ham have signed Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo this summer and sent Vlasic to Torino on loan.

The Croatia international had struggled with playing time in his first Premier League season.

“It was important Arthur [Masuaku] left, we wanted to get him more playing time, the same with Vlasic, we couldn’t guarantee to find a position,” Moyes said at a press conference, as quoted by Football London.

Torino have an option to sign Vlasic permanently in 2023 and Ivan Juric has revealed today that he had a direct role in the deal that saw his compatriot join the Granata.

West Ham want to get a new striker despite the arrival of Scamacca and Depay is one of the names linked with a move to London. Juventus are also in talks with the Dutch international who may leave Barcelona on a free transfer.

However, Moyes denied a move from his club. “It’s not us,” he said when asked about West Ham’s rumoured interest in the ex-Manchester United and Lyon star.

Juventus are on the lookout for a new striker following Alvaro Morata’s return to Atletico Madrid and Depay tops their shopping list for the role.
