Looking at all 20 Serie A teams this season, Jose Mourinho’s Roma have deployed the lowest number of different starting players, with Monza fielding the most.

The packed schedule of modern football gives players even less time to rest than before, often being forced to play every three or four days. Competing in Europe makes this even more problematic for top sides, making rotations key to maintaining a healthy squad.

Whilst some teams have taken this onboard, others are still struggling to find the right balance when looking at their options on the bench.

Corriere dello Sport analysed the starting lineups of all 20 Serie A teams across the first seven league games of the campaign, discovering that Mourinho’s Roma have only fielded 15 different starters since August. The team with the most rotations is the newly promoted Monza, who have started 24 different players since the season kicked off last month.
