Roma coach Jose Mourinho has worked to try and convince Tanguy Ndombélé to accept a move to the Italian capital.

The 25-year-old French midfielder is destined to leave Tottenham soon, with coach Antonio Conte fully unconvinced by the player following his first few months in charge. The Premier League side are looking to move him on in this month’s transfer window.

As reported by Telefoot, Mourinho personally spoke to Ndombélé on the phone recently to try and convince him of a move to Roma, believing that the Frenchman could be the perfect man to reinforce his midfield.

Tottenham value the 25-year-old midfielder at around €30m, but the Giallorossi are likely to look for a loan deal with a buy option attached. They could also look to defer payments over several years; a similar formula was used to sign Tammy Abraham from Chelsea.

The 25-year-old Ndombélé, who is contracted to the Lillywhites until 2025, has made 16 appearances across all competitions this season, for a total of 886 minutes. In that time, he has scored two goals and provided one assist.
