Mourinho wants Dybala at Roma

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Roma boss José Mourinho is pushing to sign Paulo Dybala and even informed the Argentinean about his desire in January.

La Joya will leave Juventus at the end of his contract in June and has been linked with a number of clubs around Europe. Inter seem to be in pole position to secure his services, but Mourinho is determined to sign the 28-year-old in the summer.

Il Corriere dello Sport reports that a member of Dybala’s entourage believes a move to Roma would be the ‘best option’ for the striker, who is considering a transfer to the Stadio Olimpico.

Dybala’s entourage has held talks with Inter and a few European clubs, including Arsenal, Newcastle United, Barcelona, Manchester United, Tottenham and Sevilla, but Roma are also among the options.

Mourinho is a huge admirer of La Joya and even informed him about his desire to work together after the last meeting between Juventus and Roma at the Stadio Olimpico in January.

According to the report, Mourinho told Dybala: ‘You are a great player and I’d like to coach a player like you.’

Dybala’s agent Jorge Antun was in Rome this week and was supposed to meet Tiago Pinto, but the summit was postponed following the Giallorossi’s defeat against Fiorentina on Monday night. The loss means that Roma still haven’t yet secured a European spot.

The Giallorossi want to have clear ideas about the future, especially in financial terms. Qualifying for a European competition would give the club enough resources to recruit a player like La Joya.

Dybala is tempted to join Roma and the last two European games against Bodo/Glimt and Leicester City played at a sold-out Olimpico impressed La Joya, making him consider a move to the capital in the summer.
