Mourinho targets Man United defenders for Roma

According to reports in Italy, José Mourinho has targeted Manchester United full-backs Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot.

The Portuguese tactician wants to get a top-four finish with the Giallorossi in 2022-23 after winning the first European trophy in the club’s history this season.

He will be looking to strengthen the team in different areas, including defence. One of Mourino’s priorities is to bolster his options at right wing-back, where Rick Karsorp played most of the games in 2022-23. Ainsley Maitland-Niles will return to Arsenal after a disappointing loan spell in the capital and Manchester United defender Wan-Bissaka is one of the options to replace him.

However, the 24-year-old has a contract until 2024 and the Red Devils have an option to extend his stay at the club for one more season. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, United value him at €30m, while Roma would only get the player on loan with an option to buy.

Diogo Dalot is a possible alternative to Wan-Bissaka as the Portuguese’s value is in the region of €15m. Fiorentina are also monitoring the former Milan loanee. Mourinho is an admirer of the Portugal international and Corriere dello Sport confirms Roma are interested in signing him.

RB Leipzig’s  Benjamin Henrichs is also on the Giallorossi’s radars, while Sampdoria‘s Bartosz Bereszynski, 32, is the cheapest alternative for Mourinho.
