Jose Mourinho sent a cheeky message to the Roma hierarchy by posing the team with a gap for the centre-forward they still haven’t been able to sign.

The Giallorossi concluded their pre-season training camp in Portugal today and Mourinho posted an image on his Instagram account showing the whole group standing together on the pitch.

It notably included Mou and his staff posing as if they were embracing an invisible man right in the centre of the photograph.

Roma fans immediately realised what was going on, as this was the coach showing the very large gap that still exists in his squad for a centre-forward that has not been signed.

Tammy Abraham is out for six months with a knee ligament injury and Andrea Belotti failed to score a single Serie A goal last season.

Gianluca Scamacca had been the main target, but he is now on the verge of joining Inter for €25m plus €5m in bonuses, whereas Roma could only offer a loan with option to buy.
