Jose Mourinho has hailed Juventus forward and fellow Portugal native Cristiano Ronaldo as ‘a case study’ who will still be scoring goals at 50.

Ronaldo recently became the highest scorer in Euro qualifying history with his four goals for Portugal in Lithuania, while he worked under Mourinho at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013.

“What he’s doing doesn’t surprise me,” the former Inter boss told 11.

“At 34 he’s a great player, who plays for a top team with top ambitions.

“It doesn’t surprise me because, in genetic terms, he’s a case study and that also applies to his mentality.

“Cristiano’s a phenomenon, he’s someone who thinks only about winning and doing even better.

“That’s why what he’s doing doesn’t surprise me. I think when Cristiano is 50 years old, FIFA will invite him to a legends match and he’ll score.

“I’m sure he will.”
