Il Corriere dello Sport claims the relationship between José Mourinho and Roma has turned ‘frosty’, but fans still hope the Special One stays until 2024.

The Giallorossi will likely miss out on a Champions League spot this term but have qualified for the second consecutive European Final.

Wednesday’s printed edition of Il Corriere dello Sport (page 16) reports the relationship between Mou and Roma directors has turned frosty as the two parties have different views on the club’s future.

Roma director Tiago Pinto said a few months ago that a top-four finish was a credible target for the Giallorossi.

“That’s his problem. We are friends, good friends, we can have different opinions,” Mou said on Monday after a 2-2 draw against Salernitana.

“We can write history and want to continue doing it, but qualifying for the Champions League when spending €7m on the transfer market is more than history, more than a miracle. It’s Jesus Chris coming to Rome and having a walk around the Vatican.”

It was not the first time the coach was critical of Roma’s transfer policy, which is tied to FFP restrictions.

Mourinho’s Roma contract expires in June 2024 and fans still hope the Portuguese will remain until the end of his contract.

Il Corriere dello Sport highlights how fans have never questioned Mourinho during his two-year tenure, something that ‘has never happened to any coach in the last 30 years’ in the Capital.
