The FIGC Federal Prosecutor has reportedly launched an investigation following José Mourinho’s claims against referee Daniele Chiffi so the Special One could miss the upcoming Serie A fixture against Inter.
Mourinho was furious with Chiffi on Wednesday night after a 1-1 draw against Monza at the U-Power Stadium.
He said Chiffi was the ‘wost referee’ of his career, revealing he went to the touchline with a hidden microphone to ‘record everything.’
According to ANSA, the FIGC Federal Prosecutor has now launched an investigation which could lead to a suspension for the Portuguese, while Roma may be deferred for ‘objective responsibility.’
Monza boss Raffaele Palladino defended the referee last night, blaming Mourinho and Roma reserves instead, saying their repeated protests had been outrageous.
If Mourinho is suspended, he will miss Saturday’s home game against his former club Inter. It’s a key match in the race for a Champions League spot as the Nerazzurri currently sit fourth and are only two points above Roma, Atalanta and Milan.
