José Mourinho is reportedly ‘pushing a lot’ to work with Romelu Lukaku at Roma and has repeatedly called the Chelsea forward to persuade him to move to the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma and Chelsea have practically reached an agreement over Lukaku’s loan move to the capital.

The Giallorossi are expected to pay a fee close to €5m for the striker’s temporary transfer to the Stadio Olimpico. Multiple sources in Italy, including Sky Sport Italia, claim Roma won’t have an option or obligation to buy.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says Mourinho is directly involved in negotiations, having spoken to Lukaku over the last few days.

Romano claims Mou is ‘pushing a lot’ to work with Lukaku at Roma while club directors continue negotiations with the striker’s entourage, hoping to get the deal done as soon as possible.

According to Romano, the Giallorossi are confident of reaching an agreement with all the parties involved in the next 24 hours.

Roma have had a bad start to the season in Serie A, collecting just one point in the opening two games against Salernitana and Hellas Verona.
