Renato Sanches is on the verge of completing his move to Roma, convinced after a call with coach Jose Mourinho.

The 25-year-old Portuguese midfielder struggled for regular playing time in his debut season with Paris Saint-Germain, seeing just 905 minutes of action, and has not been deployed by new coach Luis Enrique in their last two summer friendlies.

Roma have been interested in Renato Sanches for a couple of weeks now but financial limitations mean they cannot offer a definitive deal, instead negotiating a loan with a permanence clause attached.

Page 12 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Renato Sanches has already agreed personal terms with Roma, ready to make the move after speaking with Mourinho and goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos.

The 25-year-old is set to move on a loan deal with a €12-13m buy option attached. He initially wanted to play in the Champions League, but the talk with Mourinho changed his mind and convinced him of the move.

The deal is expected to be completed in the coming days, with PSG in the final days of the pre-season tour in Japan.
