Jose Mourinho sent a signal to Roma with his picks against Zorya Luhask, effectively scrapping Amadou Diawara, Gonzalo Villar and Bryan Reynolds.

The Europa Conference League game kicks off in Ukraine at 17.45 UK time (16.45 GMT).

Mourinho made radical changes to the side that lost to Lazio in Serie A at the weekend, but the biggest surprises were those he didn’t choose.

The coach has made several comments over the course of the campaign noting that American right-back Reynolds needs to improve a great deal.

This evening, he has chosen to move centre-back Roger Ibanez to the right side of defence rather than give Reynolds a chance to play.

There are also two midfielders, Villar and Diawara, who are evidently not part of Mourinho’s plans and are expected to leave in January.

Instead, Bryan Cristante is given no rest in the midfield, while Ebrima Darboe gets his first appearance of the season.

  1. Based on the one appearance I saw last season, Reynolds is way, way, WAYYYYYYY off being ready for Serie A. Looked totally out of his depth, not even doing the most basic things.
