Italian sources are confidently shrugging off the reports that Paris Saint-Germain are looking at Jose Mourinho, as he repeatedly confirmed he’ll be at Roma next season. ‘Nobody lied to me.’

The Special One lifted the Europa Conference League in his debut campaign for the Giallorossi, the first official UEFA piece of silverware in the club’s history.

There were rumours in The Telegraph suggesting PSG had Mourinho as one of the candidates to take over from Mauricio Pochettino this summer.

However, Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia have confidently shrugged those off as nothing more than speculation, or at best wishful thinking from the Ligue 1 giants.

Mourinho has repeatedly stated how much he loves being at Roma, is committed to the club throughout a three-year contract and reassured he will “100 per cent” be there next season.

The reports emerged because PSG have just hired Luis Campos as their new sporting director, another Portuguese figure who has a close relationship with Mourinho.

However, Mourinho spoke to students at the University of Lisbon this week and reiterated his position.

“I love being at Roma. I don’t love it when I lose, and I lose more here than at other clubs, but the people love me and I have this great feeling of empathy with the people both inside and outside the club.

“Nobody lied to me, nobody conned me or promised things on the transfer market we couldn’t achieve. I am there because I love it.”
