Jose Mourinho’s latest Instagram post got Roma fans talking, as while he thanks everyone from players to kitchen staff and mocks the ‘Einsteins of football’, he also warns that he must think ‘what next…’

The Special One lifted silverware in his debut season with the Giallorossi, winning the inaugural edition of the Europa Conference League.

The coach took part in the celebratory parade through the streets of the Eternal City before going off on his summer vacation and did it with a message on social media that raised a few eyebrows.

“Memories stay forever and history can’t be deleted. For me these were incredible, unforgettable emotions, but I need to think “what next”…

“Before that, I need to hug everyone. I need to tell the world my gratitude to my PLAYERS: everyone of them, from Rui who played 54 matches to Pietro who didn’t play one single minute. But in this team everyone played every minute of every game, that is what the Einsteins of football don’t know, don’t understand and I feel sorry for them.

“Football is what you see and what you can’t see, football is not played by 11, it is played by many more, and we were sooo many… Players, coaches, medical staff, analysts, kitmen, kitchen people, families, friends, romanisti, mourinhisti and I am so grateful to everyone.

“One day I will leave Roma and AS Roma, that’s the law of football, but more than one or more cups I would love to see this club for ever and ever united by this passion and love.”

Mourinho has two more years on his contract with Roma and stated categorically after the Conference League Final victory over Feyenoord in Tirana that he would be here next season.

However, he also warned he would have to sit down with club owners the Friedkin family and discuss their strategy and ambitions going forward.

It was always meant to be a season of renovation and reconstruction, but next term he will want to target a top four finish in Serie A and Champions League qualification.

Roma took sixth place this term, earning their Europa League qualification even before winning the Conference League.

  1. Did y’all not understand what he’s saying? He’s staying with us, now he needed his break to think about how to improve this team next season. And probably giving a little pressure to the owners to upgrade that is all.

  2. As roma what a great team and a great coach.i hope the union continues. With love from kissieman Ghana

  3. IT depends whether the owners are willing to accept his proposals as he always said he needs from three to four players of a certain level to strengthen the team. If his demands are not accepted I think he will probably leave.

  4. Mour is Mour , the Special One , Better than The Rest , with him you have hope , Problem is every league needs hope and theyre gonna come for him. Congrats Roma

  5. @Arie
TOTALLY AGREE …..he is pressuring the Friedkins and has now even more bargaining power winning a trophy to get what he wants for next season. Hes committed to the 3 year contract and has stated this many times , but that will be it i reckon. He will go back to premier league and perhaps Newcastle . imo
