Roma coach Jose Mourinho kept his promise and bought Felix Afena-Gyan the new shoes he wanted after the 18-year-old scored a brace against Genoa on Sunday.

The Portuguese tactician revealed in the interview after the win that he had promised Felix a pair of new shoes if he scored against the Grifone.

Mourinho: ‘I promised Felix a new pair of boots’

But the teenager didn’t just score one but bagged a brace when he entered during the second half and helped the Giallorossi to a 2-0 win at Marassi.

And Mourinho kept his word, as you see in the video below.

  1. Even though I am a Laziale, I wish the kid luck, he was moved you could tell by the way he kept wanting to hug Jose till at the last attempt when he gave in.

He also saved Mourinhos(and the whole team) ass.

  2. Great story. I hope it’s not a flash in the pan and this kid becomes a world beater. I’d be expecting a few more goals as a return for the £800 boots!

  3. Wow! Just watched the video and fantastic kicks! All tide up in a bow. Jose is a big softy. Love him or hate him, he’s got heart.

  4. Love Jose’s courage in bringing in Felix even though 90% of the mangers out there, would have gotten Nicolo on the field at the time because of the pressure of not playing him all game but Mourinho used his genius as a manger and brought on a player that he new had the characteristics, to affect the game in Roma’s favour!! Great job Felix and great move by Jose!! LETS GO ROMA!!

  5. Honestly, a goal at the top level, esp. a match winner, is worth 1m euros to a club. So he has more than earned a new pair of boots, he has probably earned a new contract, already! The most important thing for a young player is to have the right attitude towards their development. We all know who had the right attitude, the likes of Ronaldo, Eto’o, and those who did not, Balotelli, Cassano…

  6. Nice gesture but am I the only guy offended by the comments of the person filming? First he calls Mourinho “papa, papa” like he was his dad for Felix (not sure of the background, young player probably left home at early age) and then he forces him to dance… why would you want him to act like that? Is that not somewhat racist?

  7. Can`t believe they have release such a video! You can hear someone saying “there are bananas inside”!

How is that not racist?! On top of that, they force him to dance while he is visibly emotional and embarassed he has to dance for the shoes like a monkey.

I am sorry but this is very low grade humor in case that was the intention, it`s rather offensive in my books.
