José Mourinho says Italy vs. England would be the ‘perfect Final’ and praises Atalanta‘s Robin Gosens: ‘People don’t know him a lot…’

The Roma coach previewed today’s England vs. Germany, warning the Three Lions to play with a back-three.

“To be offensive, to win a match, a team needs also to be solid and not to have doubts. In my opinion, the best way to be in control against Germany would be for England to play with a back three and wing backs,” the Special One wrote in an article on The Times.

“Portugal played with a back four against Germany and Robin Gosens and Joshua Kimmich destroyed them. Portugal couldn’t cope. Everything started with Kimmich on the right side and once they overloaded there and attracted the Portuguese team over, they made quick changes of direction to Gosens.

“People don’t know Gosens a lot because he plays for Atalanta, but he is an incredibly powerful left wing back who developed himself in a club playing that system. They destroyed Portugal that way. Hungary, even without having Portugal’s strength, matched up with the wing backs and they had that control.”

The winner of England vs. Germany will face either Ukraine or Sweden while Italy will meet Belgium in the quarter-finals on Friday.

“Without Portugal in the competition, I feel connected to Italy because, as coach of Roma, I have players in that national team. I wish the best for Leonardo Spinazzola who has been playing very well, and Bryan Cristante coming from the bench,” wrote Mourinho.

“Italy against England in the final would be the perfect scenario for me, and I am an England fan now. I would love Harry Kane to take the trophy in his hands from Aleksander Ceferin. Beat Germany and I see them at Wembley in the final.”
