The two clubs have been reportedly locked in talks for Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen for a number of days, with reports of the Nerazzurri first making an offer of €10m, then raising it to €15m to fend off competition.

However, during his press conference yesterday ahead of Spurs’ game against Watford, Mourinho made jibes against Conte, whom he had several clashes with whilst the latter coached in the Premier League with Chelsea.

“Inter looks really amazing. They have almost two teams,” said Mourinho.

“So maybe one to try to win Scudetto and one to try to win Europa League but in this moment it’s fantastic."

Conte has bemoaned a lack of players all season, and Inter have signed Ashley Young from Manchester United, with personal terms also agreed for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

Mourinho also commented on Italy’s new tax laws, which allows foreigners arriving in the country to only pay 50% of their salary towards tax. The new law came into effect this month.

"I think the tax laws is fantastic for Italian football," said Mourinho. "Now they are in conditions to attract more players based on this tax system, that creates more problems for other countries, yes, of course, but at the same time opens a new market and gives more possibilities of dealing with players to a very strong market at this moment.”

Mourinho was then asked about his current relationship with Inter, but he says the current iteration of the club is no longer his.

“That’s not my Inter. My Inter was Moratti's Inter. This is not my Inter. I have no connections with the people so I think it’s nothing to do with that," said Mourinho.

"Nothing can change my feeling with Inter, it’s not a situation with a player that is going to change my feeling with the club and the fans. No chance."
