According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Nicolò Zaniolo was included in Roma‘s Europa League list, but the player has provided a medical certificate which allows him to skip training because of stress.

The Italy international is no longer part of Roma’s project but was formally included in their Europa League list for the second part of the campaign, reports the pink paper.

This is just a formal decision from Mourinho who is not expected to count on the 23-year-old again before the end of the season.

Roma will face RB Salzburg in the Europa League play-offs with the first match played in Austria on February 16.

According to the report, Zaniolo is unlikely to train again with the team this month. He was expected to return to Trigoria yesterday, but Gazzetta claims he provided a medical certificate which allows him to skip training because of stress and mental fatigue.

The certificate was provided on January 31 and lasts one month. Therefore, in the next few days, Zaniolo won’t train in Trigoria, either with the team or individually.

UPDATE: Roma confirmed on Friday morning that Zaniolo is part of their Europa League squad.
