During his post-match press conference, José Mourinho revealed he had a hidden microphone on the touchline for Monza-Roma: ‘I am not stupid, I had to protect myself, everything is recorded.
The Portuguese coach was furious with referee Daniele Chiffi after a 1-1 draw at the U-Power Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Giallorossi defender Zaki Celik was sent off seconds before the final whistle receiving a second yellow card, but Mourinho didn’t like anything the referee did, including his attitude.
The ex-Inter boss blamed Chiffi during his post-match interview with DAZN but added more in his post-match press conference.
“I am not stupid, I went to the game with a microphone and recorded everything from the moment I left the dressing room until I returned. I had to protect myself,” he said.
“They say we never win with Daniele Orsato, but I’d rather have him in every game because he’s always in control. He doesn’t need to act angrily, he is calm. Chiffi doesn’t have much of a referee. He has a talent for getting angry and this is it. But this is against the referee’s nature, who must be exactly the opposite.
“The referee didn’t influence the result, but a second yellow card at minute 96, makes you understand everything.”
This past March, Mourinho argued with another referee, Marco Serra, claiming he had been insulted on the touchline and claiming he could sue him. He asked for audio from the fourth official, but AIA sources said the file was not available, so Mourinho apparently took the matter into his own hands this time.
Grande!
