José Mourinho reveals he turned down the Milan job three years ago: ‘I am so happy to have done it.’

The Special One signed a three-year deal with Roma in April, returning to Italy ten years after his spell at Inter.

The Giallorossi suffered a 3-1 loss against the Rossoneri tonight and Mourinho revealed he had snubbed the Rossoneri job in the past.

“I was offered the job three years ago. I thought about it for three days, but I am so happy to have taken that decision,” the Portuguese coach said at a post-match press conference.

“I am a professional, but there is still space for emotion. I am passionate about Roma and I will give everything for this club.”

Milan fans booed Mourinho at the beginning of the game, so the coach has no regrets about his choice.

“Looking to what happened today, I am twice as happy about my decision,” he added.

Mourinho spent two seasons at Inter, winning five trophies, including a legendary treble in 2009-10.

He won 67 of 108 games in charge of the Serie A giants who are still in love with the Special One, so much so a group of Inter ultras greeted him upon his arrival in Milan yesterday.

  1. Bitter comments. Why do I get the impression that he is annoyed that the Milan job HASN’T been offered to him? I mean three years ago was exactly when ownership of the club was changing. Who asked you to be coach Jose? Why would a professional mention such things? I hope you enjoy your cheap cartridge printed “plaque” from the interisti…

  2. My how the mighty have fallen. resorting to school boy comments after a loss!

Small , little man! let me guess he complained about the ref too ! LOL

  3. Salty as usual from Jose ,who was last relevant around 10 years ago.
All of his teams have looked uninspiring since his treble.

  4. Sore loser Mourinho. Should change his nickname to “The Special Loser”. And the title of this interview should be this : “Mourinho happy to have escaped humiliation by Milan” seeing as how the game went with two crossbars and a penalty missed for a decimated Milan side.

  5. There is 0 percent chance of him having ever been offered the job. Nothing makes me laugh more than Mourinho constantly looking backwards, to try and keep himself relevant.

  6. if the job was at all offered to you 3 years ago, we are very happy too that you rejected it seeing how many clubs that have fired you in the past 3 years😃 seems to me Roma will be the last big/ middle club you will be coaching if you get fired too, Roma is the last place for you to prove The special one glory days are not over and you are failing and its obvious your days are over!
your next clubs after this will be relegation teams
