According to Il Messaggero newspaper, Tottenham have set their sights on Jordan Veretout and José Mourinho could welcome one new midfielder at the Stadio Olimpico if Spurs sign the Frenchman.

Roma are one of the busiest Serie A clubs in the market, having already loaned Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sergio Oliveira from Arsenal and Porto in January.

There are growing reports that Mourinho is open to selling Veretout in January or at the end of the season.

According to Il Messaggero newspaper, Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are keeping a close eye on the Frenchman who could reinforce Spurs’ midfield in January.

Roma have been linked with Tanguy Ndombele but a swap deal involving him and Veretour is unlikely as the former Lyon midfielder’s salary is too high for the Giallorossi.

Ndombele could only join Roma by accepting a considerable pay-cut or if Spurs pay a part of his salary.

Olympique De Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara is also on Roma’s radars.

He runs out of his contract in June and is therefore eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club.

Roma are already in talks with his agent who has demanded a €5m-a-year deal which would make him become the highest earner in Trigoria with Tammy Abraham.

However, if Veretout joins Tottenham on a permanent deal or loan with an obligation to buy, Roma may have more financial resources to convince the 22-year-old.
