Roma boss José Mourinho confirms Ainsley Maitland-Niles will return to Arsenal after his six-month loan spell in the capital.

The Giallorossi loaned the 24-year-old in the January transfer window, but the Englishman has been struggling with playing time at the Stadio Olimpico.

He is now set to return to Arsenal, as confirmed by Roma boss Mourinho and the player.

“Great way to end the season thank you to the Roma fans players and staff for embracing me and believing in me as one of their own for the short period of time spent at the club what a experience and to be a part of history with the club,” the 24-year-old wrote on Instagram adding a picture with the Conference League won by the Giallorossi last week.

The Special One shared the same message on his Instagram stories adding ‘We will miss you, one of us.’

Maitland-Niles racked up 12 appearances, nine as a starter, during his six-month spell in the capital.

Mourinho is now on the lookout for a new right wing-back and both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot have been linked with a move to the Stadio Olimpico.

The Conference League was Roma’s first trophy in 14 years and the first European cup won by the club in their history.
