Sacked Roma coach Jose Mourinho has confirmed he chose Fenerbahce as his new club. ‘I like challenges.’

The Special One spent two and a half years at the Stadio Olimpico before he was fired in mid-January to make way for club icon Daniele De Rossi.

He had been linked with interest from the Saudi Pro League and Premier League, including a potential return to Chelsea, but has now accepted the proposal from Turkish team Fenerbahce.

“I decided I want to go, it is not done officially,” Mourinho told Sky Sports UK.

As is often the way with the Portuguese coach, he immediately pointed to the many difficulties that he will face in this next step of his career.

“Champions League is hard, because we have three rounds to go in qualification and in Fenerbahce’s case eight players in the Euros, so they are not coming before the first round.

“It’s hard, but if I go, you know I like challenges, so I will fight to go in the Champions League.”
