New coach Jose Mourinho will completely change the working methods at Roma and wants to prepare for the new season abroad.

Il Corriere dello Sport reports the Portuguese tactician, who replaces Paulo Fonseca at the helm of the Giallorossi in July, has started to dictate the rules at Roma.

The first day of Mourinho is fast approaching and the former Inter coach wants to carry out at least part of the pre-season abroad.

The Friedkins trust director Juma Qaddourah with the organisation of the pre-season retreat, but a trip to USA is not possible due to the COVID-19 restrictions still in force.

The report claims any Italian location has been excluded due to the need to ‘maintain maximum privacy’ around the squad.

Qaddourah has reportedly taken steps to meet Mourinho’s demands and are in talks with organisers in Austria for a location in Styria.

The new coach has asked to play three friendly matches in one week, but the pre-season preparation will be short for the Giallorossi, with the new season starting on August 22.

Roma are one of the first participants in the new UEFA Europa Conference League and every team will have to play a qualifying tie in order to reach the group stage.

The qualifying games are scheduled for August 19 and August 26, and thus the season starts even earlier for La Lupa.

Il Corriere dello Sport points out the pre-season preparation will last ‘just over 10 days’ for the Giallorossi this summer, in view of the first Conference League match on August 19.
